Rainy Day Art

It was a yucky rainy day and the boys were driving me insane. So I sent them down to the sunroom with these kits I bought them for Christmas. Basically they are just wood kits that you paint and glue together. They made a tank, a jet, and a race car.

Photobucket

For my reward I got 2 solid hours of peace and relative quiet. They shared paint, made jokes, laughed, and really (for boys) kept the mess down to a minimum. It was fantastic!!!

I'm going shopping this week, to stock up on a supply of rainy day crafts. For my own sanity of course.

What the world?

I came home from work to find this.

I dont' think I've ever seen anything like this before. He says he hit his mouth with a stick. But it didn't bleed.

DAY 1

It looks like he ripped his gums. But I don't understand why it didn't bleed.

DAY 2

See the tooth coming through?

DAY 3

The tooth is showing a bit more. So I'm confident that the permanent tooth just didn't come in on top of the baby tooth. That's why the root is still intact. Normally the permanent tooth rubs against and breaks down the root of the milk teeth.

I'm encouraging him to wiggle it as much as possible. I hope it comes out tonight, I'm a little worried about the gums not supporting the new tooth.

He's not worried about a thing. I told him that a tooth that comes with it's root is totally worth $3.oo instead of the usual $2.00. He's been wiggling it like a madman ever since.

Pick Your Own Strawberries

We love our local pick-your-own strawberry farm. We usually go with friends.

Berry Farm

So kid friendly.

Photobucket

They don't mind the kids out there eating.

Photobucket

I know because I asked once.

Berry Farm

I always pay my harvesters in ice cream (strawberry of course!)

Joshua

So when we were getting ready to leave the museum the kids asked to browse the gift shop. Joshua found a pretty necklace and decided he had to get it for his sister. He also had to buy it with his own money so it would be just from him. He set himself back quite a bit (he's saving up for an I-pod Shuffle). I'm in awe of such generosity in one so young.

History and Science Museums

First we visited the Museum of History. Everyone found something they really liked. The boys all liked the NC Sports Hall of Fame (located in our local museum).

Jeremiah especially liked the race car paraphenalia.

History Museum

The new Duck Exhibit is all about the history of duck hunting. It was really neat. Leon and Zerrick discovered the duck hunt game. We couldn't tare them away from it.

History Museum

Then we had lunch at the old capitol building. The weather could not have been any nicer. Seriously.

Capitol Bld Picnic

Jeremiah sized cannons.

Now! On to the Science Museum!

Science Museum

Ishmael really liked the Discovery Room. They let him hold bess beatles, earth worms, and look at frog x-rays. He was in his element here.

Science Museum

What you can't see here is that their are "animal tracks" on the floor. The kids would try to guess who the tracks came from and then follow the tracks to the animal on display (snakes, birds, beavers, deer, etc). They loved it!

Animal Tracks

Animal Tracks

I lied. I made all the kids stand in for one more shot.

Eerie Clouds

We had some strange weather today. The clouds were spinning and swirling very quickly.

Eerie

There were not tornado warnings or even watches that I was aware of. I wasn't sure if I should send the kids to the hallway or not.

Eerie Clouds

I don't think I've ever seen clouds gather and move so fast.

Eerie Clouds

We opted for safety and spent some time in the hallway. Paranoid much?

Prince Caspian

Photobucket
The movie was SO SO good!!! I think Disney is on a role with this series. I wasn't expecting it to be anything like the book so I was surprised with how close it really was. Not like BBC close or anything, it is still Disney after all. The battle scenes were tastefully done, leaving the bloodshed and gore to the imagination.

I was so moved by all the parallels drawn on faith and Jesus Christ. I see them clearer watching them play out on the big screen. I really can't say enough about this movie. It is a MUST see!

We will definitely be owning this one!

The Atmosphere

This was alot of fun. We put this chart up on the wall.
Photobucket

I measured the miles to the scale of inches. So 50 miles is 50 inches...you get the idea. On the construction paper is a small square of contact paper.
Photobucket

The cards have regular scotch tape on the back. The contact paper lets us reuse the cards over and over again.

Man! you gotta love 5 year olds!!!

Playground Superstars

I forget how important it is to a kid to just dangle.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Jeremiah is feeling so accomplished these days because he can make it all the way around.

Photobucket

Here are some cool shots of the kids jumping off the swings.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Jeremiah still needs a push to get started. Ishmael is such a good big brother.

Photobucket

Joshua mostly climbed stuff. It's what he does. He'd much rather climb than dangle or jump
from swings.

Photobucket

Here's a rare species for you. I present to you the teenagers who were dragged to the park against their will. They're too cool to pay any attention to us. If they had seen I was taking a picture they would have quickly sheilded their faces and ran for cover.

Photobucket

Now I have one really big question to ask you:

Photobucket

Should I tell Ishmael that he's dressed like a Harlem Globe Trotter?

Friday's Double Feature

Iron Man: Fantastic movie! Robert Downey Jr was much better than I thought he'd be. There were a few innuendos but they went over the younger guys' heads.

Photobucket

The Forbidden Kingdom: Okay. Jackie Chan is always funny. I think this is the first time I've seen Jet Li in anything but a serious role. Not as funny as I thought it would be. The fight scenes were good. The plot needed work. Leon and the kids LOVED it!

Photobucket

The best part?!!!! We bought tickets to see Prince Caspian next week!!! We can hardly wait!
