Roller Skating

I love roller skating. I have loved it since I got my first pair of skates when I was 9years old. They were white with purple laces. I'd skate around in our garage and play Debbie Gibson. When we moved to North Carolina, my friend Summer and I would go to Skate World almost every weekend. We'd skate from the time they opened, until they kicked us out at closing.

Joshua is an old pro now, since he earned his Roller Skating Beltloop last summer.

Leon was a speed skater as a kid. I never knew that.

Jeremiah had a really hard time at first.

But then we took his skates back up to the counter and asked the lady to tighten his wheels a little. After that he got the hang of it real quick.

This was Ishmael's first time at the skate rink. He's played on roller blades before, but 4 wheel skates are a tad different. He adjusted very quickly and had a great time.

Of course, half the fun of skating is buying treats at the snack bar.

Kelsea is so stinkin' cute. I want to kiss her. In front of people.

Carolina Hurricans v/s Atlanta Thrashers

Ishmael won tickets to the Canes game by filling up his Boy Scout popcorn order form. He also earned a $30 gift card to Walmart, and a marshmallow crossbow shooter.

This was both of their first hockey game. The Canes won 4 to 3 in overtime.

Baseball

I woke the kids up early this morning. Earlier than usual when we are on school break.

I told them I was taking them to the baseball field to play with them. They were up and ready faster than I think I've ever seen them move! Faster even than on Christmas morning!

Let me tell you, I love playing baseball. I was even in Little League as a kid, but the coach did not like having a girl on his team. He was mean, and never put me in for games. Anyway, I have great memories of throwing the ball around with my dad and my brother. My dad taught us both how to throw and catch the ball.

Now I love taking my own kids out to throw the ball around. We stopped for a while...I'm not sure why. The kids lost interest in the game or something.

But man did we have fun this morning!!

A Day With Dad

I worked all weekend so Leon held down the fort...so to speak. He took the kids fishing.

Leon took first and Dale took 2nd. We decided the crockpot makes the difference. Since Leon and Dale used the same make and model.

I found a gaggle of girls downstairs.

Oh right. The game. Mike and Mike.

Sunday Afternoon Ball

Sometimes Leon and his friends play basketball after church on Sundays. Sometimes the kids and I tag along for a day on the playground.

I found taking pictures of guys playing basketball quite humorous.

Sometimes because they were just cuttin' up and bein' funny.

Or they were just so graceful.

And in some of these I can't tell if they lost the ball...

or if they're praying for rain...

Sunday afternoon basketball is Leon's favorite time of the week.
