Easter Fishing

Later on Easter Sunday we met up with the Dabbs family at Lake Michie (pronounced Mickey, get it right).

Teagan caught her very first fish!

The girls caught at least 2 fish each (I lost count) using their princess pole.

In fact, the princess pole was getting so much action that Joshua had to give it a try!

I caught the only bass of the day (small mouth). It was bigger than my arm! See?

Joshua found a turtle. I believe he is a baby river cooter. At first I thought he was a red belly, but he has a flat chin...and red bellies are more of a coastal turtle in NC.

More Fishing

We love to go fishing. There is nothing like getting up at the crack of smack, loading everyone up in the car, and heading to the lake.

Joshua is getting quite adept. He can bait his pole, and take the hooks out of the fish. He's as gentle as he can be with the latter, he feels bad for the fish.

Kelsea does not like to fish. At. All. But she doesn't mind bringing a book along just to hang out.

Photobucket

Jeremiah LOVES to fish. It means snacks, water, and mud. His most favorite things.

Calvin on the other hand, LOVES to fish. LOVES it. He'd rather fish than do anything else in the whole wide world.

Photobucket

We didn't catch anything worthwhile. The kids caught a bunch of puny fish.

Go ahead. I know you want to whistle the Andy Griffith Show theme song.

More Fishin'

Leon took the boys fishing after they got back from camping at the Durham Bulls game. They can't seem to get enough of the sport these days. It's becoming an obsession. :D

This is a pretty good shot of the snake they watched for a while that day. Very cool. I think it's a Water Moccasin.

Memorial Day

We decided we wanted to spend Memorial Day with a crack of dawn fishing trip!

On the way to the fishing spot, we passed a turtle in the middle of the road. If you know me, you know that I am passionate about stopping and helping the turtles cross the road. And he was such a handsome turtle. Very shy.

We caught a bunch of fish.

Here's my catfish.

Jeremiah kept catching the trees.

Leon also caught a cat.

Calvin's 2nd catch of the day.

Kelsea was mostly bored. Fishing is not her "thing".

Photobucket

But the rest of us had a blast.

We went home and took a nice long afternoon snooze. We decided to head out to another lake (one closer to home) and do some evening time fishing. We caught a bunch more fish. Unfortunately I did not have my camera. I enjoyed the evening fishing much more than the crack of smack fishing. Just sayin'.
