The kids and I walked to the grocery store today. We were supposed to walk to the park, but they didn't finish their chores in time.
We walked a little downtown first. This is an old mill about two blocks from my house. I think it makes this the industrial disctrict? It's a neat looking building. It usually looks dead in the afternoon but I've seen several trucks there in the early am. You can't see it well, but there's a Purina sign behind the street sign.
Back of the mill.
This teeny tiny cemetery is the neatest thing. It's right between two small houses but not far from a big beautiful old house (I'll get pics of it next time).
But the neatest part about this cemetery is the sign in front. I love history and this town is full of it.
Here are my pack mules...I mean lovely children.
I did treat my workforce to a nice cold cola. They each split a can.

Practice
I need to work on my close-ups.
I like this one. It's not as warm as I tried to get it, but I like it. I like the catch lights here.
This one is warm. I can see a few catch lights. I think it's the best one I took all day. Except I didn't notice the pepper flake in the tooth of my subject matter.
This one was taken in full shade, so it's much cooler than the rest. There was still some light reflected on her face but it didn't show through enough for the camera. I was trying to get catch lights through her glasses without so much reflection in the lens. I'm going to try again if she'll let me.
I tried to get a close up of my 6 year old. He just wouldn 't be still (his finger went up right when I pressed the button)...
or stop with the silliness. Still, I like this one. It's not quite what I was going for, but the lighting is okay. I can see good catch lights in his eyes. Too much white t-shirt I think. Maybe if I had the super software to crop it and not lose it's proportions.

The Playground
While Kelsea is at ballet practice I take the boys off to play. We either go to the playground at the school across the street or we'll drive a few minutes to one of the many parks in the area. Our friend joined us to play while she was waiting for her big sisters who are in Kelsea's class.
Our friend is so patient with us. We just love her to pieces!
Mr. Smartypants himself.

Kids Get Hold of Camera
It's always fun to see what the kids do with a camera when they aren't supposed to have it.
The following might be disturbing. It is very important, in an effort to keep it real, that I show them in their entirety. So I will not Photoshop or in any way censure the following the material.
I'll go easy on you though.
I really hope they did not look at the sun too long to get this shot.
Define "sanity" for me. Please.
