Build-A-Bear Workshop

The kids have always wanted to do Build-A-Bear. We decided to spoil them. Just a bit. For no reason whatsoever.

Photobucket

Jeremiah was a pro. You'd think he's done this before.

Joshua didn't want any help dressing his pet. He's Mr. Independent.

Photobucket

They look so cute. I had fun doing this with them.

And just to be consistent with the mean mommy persona, I made them wait till after dinner, chores, and baths to take them out of their boxes.

Photobucket

I wouldn't want them to think I'd gone soft.

Jeremiah named his Major Payne:

Joshua named his Slam Dunk:

They had SO much fun!! Now they want to know when they can do it again...ummm..."when you get a job."

Yep, not soft at all.

My Poor Unsocialized Freaks

We were invited to meet some new friends at the Museum of Natural Science to see the Dead Sea Scrolls. In a matter of seconds one thing became apparent. These kids have no idea how to socialize. Where did we go wrong?

Photobucket

And how do we fix it?

Photobucket

We should really call in a professional.

Photobucket

How will they ever survive?

Photobucket

Seriously though, we had an absolute blast!! These kids were instant friends! It was like we've all known eachother forever!

And we all left feeling so much richer for having such wonderful new friends.

And as a side note. The Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit was absolutely worth seeing! God is so amazing and I really am just in awe of his majesty.

So I'm a Little Neurotic with a Side of OCD

I made the last timeline and wasn't completely happy with it. So I started over.

If you are following along at home you will need:

a cardboard sewing board (from JoAnn's or a similiar craft store)
masking tape
markers
yard stick, ruler, or tape measure
double sided tape to stick your figures up with

I wanted the lines to "pop." So instead of drawing them (too blah) or painting them (too messy) I decided to just tape them off with masking tape.

I measured my rows to be 6 inches apart. There is less than six inches from the top row and the top of the board, I was okay with that.

Then I marked off each line every 18 inches. So each 100 years gets 18 inches of line.
Timeline Redo

Starting on the bottom row on the left hand side I started filling in the years starting with 2499 and ending the first segment with 2400 and so on for each segment.
Timeline Redo

I really like the finished look of using a stencil for my numbers. And this timeline does not end with 0. I may modify it later, you may want to modify it at home. It's okay, I give you permission. This timeline ends in the top right hand corner with 99BC.

So I left the bigger space at the bottom so I would have room to place our figures from Creation to The Flood.

Here is our hand dandy timeline box. It has our gold and silver markers, timeline men, and some index cards for when we have to add more than just our little men.
Timeline Junk

I picked up the little men from the teacher supply store. They are made for a bulletin board. You can make your own out of construction paper.

I hope to post more pics as we use our timeline more. The kids LOVE it! They can't wait to add another man each week.
